Tax Seminar for Internationals in Aalborg

The year-end statement (årsopgørelse) is now available in English, making it easier for non-Danish speakers to review and correct their tax information. However, certain elements-such as foreign income, property, or investments-still require manual reporting and are easily overlooked.

demystify the Danish tax system

International employees working in Denmark are being offered a unique opportunity to demystify the Danish tax system at an upcoming seminar focused on the year-end tax statement, or årsopgørelse. International House North Denmark has invited us to conduct the seminar on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 09:00 to 10:00 at International House North Denmark‘s location in Aalborg (Rantzausgade 4, 9000 Aalborg).

International House North Denmark is the public point of entry to the region of North Denmark for international citizens, companies with international employees, and companies that are interested in broadening their overseas markets.

Targeted Guidance for Global Professionals

The seminar is tailored for employees who may be unfamiliar with Danish tax procedures, who have lived or earned income abroad, relocated to or from Denmark during the tax year, or utilise specific tax schemes such as the frontier worker arrangement.

These groups often encounter challenges with “hidden elements” in their tax statements; items not automatically reported to the Danish tax authorities.

Key Topics on the Agenda

  • Participants will receive practical guidance on:
  • Distinguishing between the year-end statement and a tax return
  • Declaring shares and other investments
  • Registering full-year income when relocating
  • Applying the frontier worker (“grænsegænger”) tax scheme
  • Reporting foreign property ownership
  • Avoiding common reporting pitfalls

Crossbord’s specialists, Jacob Krushave and André Ahrenkiel, will also address questions about double taxation, social security contributions, and the documentation required for foreign income and assets

Registration and Support

The event is organised in collaboration with CO2 Vision and is co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Danish Board of Business Development. Registration closes on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 15:00.

International employees interested in attending or seeking further information are encouraged to contact International House North Denmark.

How is property value tax calculated for a foreign property in Denmark?
The 2025 rules explained.

If you employ people who are fully tax-resident in Denmark and own property abroad, those employees are likely required to declare and pay Danish property value tax (ejendomsværdiskat) on that property. Many do not know this. Many who do know it are unsure about how to calculate it correctly.

On the 22nd of May 2026, the Danish Property Assessment Agency (Vurderingsstyrelsen) published updated indices for income year 2025. The indices are the mechanism by which the taxable value of a foreign property is determined when no Danish public valuation exists. Getting this right matters: incorrect or missing declarations can result in
reassessments, interest charges, and penalties.

This article sets out who is affected, how the calculation works, and what the deadlines are for income year 2025.
