Crossbord gives tax seminar

The Danish year end tax statement can be quite confusing even to Danes, so while it is now availble in English for foreigner, it can still be a cause for confusion, especially for individuals with international elements, e.g. individuals who have residence, income, or assets abroad, who have relocated to or from Denmark during the tax year, or if certain tax schemes apply, such as the frontier worker or the tax scheme for researchers.

International House North Denmark graciously hosted a tax seminar for international employees, where our colleagues, tax experts Jacob Krushave and André Ahrenkiel, went through key topics relevant for the year end tax statement (årsopgørelsen) such as:

  • The difference between the year-end statement and a tax return
  • How to declare shares and other investments
  • Registering full-year income when relocating
  • Applying the frontier worker tax scheme
  • Reporting foreign property ownership
  • Other common reporting pitfalls

The event lasted about an hour and sparked lively discussion and questions from the attentive audience. We are pleased that many sources of confusion were cleared up. Thank you to all the participants and hosts for making it such an enjoyable occasion.
